Ornithological collections
The ornithological collections include 2,080 taxidermied specimens, including some once common but now considered extinct species, such as the curlew (Numenius tenuirostris). The study collection, developed from 1982 onward includes 233 specimens for 74 species from the Po Delta and Emilia-Romagna; the birds had died from various causes (impacts with high-tension cables, road investments…).

Luciano Landi Collection: 251 specimens, 140 species, from eastern Emilia-Romagna and the Po Delta.
Galli Collection, entrusted to the Museum after a seizure: 276 specimens for 186 species from North America, Europe and Asia.
Alberto Ravani Collection: 106 specimens, 59 species from Ferrara and Eastern Europe.
Giulio Teodorani: 271 specimens for 138 species, collected between the Po Delta and Romagna; it is the one that includes the Numenius tenuirostris.
Collection of the Province of Ferrara: 401 specimens, 187 species from Ferrara.
