Following the great success of the lecture series organized by the Municipality of Ferrara in collaboration with the association Ferrariae Decus and the enthusiasm of the public for the guided tours of the renovated Palazzina Marfisa d’Este, the Civic Museums of Ferrara announce four new dates to discover one of the city’s historical treasure chests.
The Palazzina, which reopened to the public on Sept. 5 after major structural consolidation and upgrading of facilities, now presents itself in a renewed museum guise. The new lighting system, designed to enhance the precious interior decorations, allows visitors to admire the famous grotesque ceilings as never before, revealing details and details that have remained in the shadows until now.
“The warmth with which Ferrara residents and visitors have welcomed the Palazzina Marfisa d’Este, reopened in September, confirms the strength of our cultural heritage and the public’s interest in this treasure chest of beauty. Given the success of the series of events in recent weeks that is allowing people to discover and explore the treasures of the Palazzina, the Civic Museums are offering four new free guided tours, curated by conservators Francesca Acqui and Romeo Pio Cristofori. It will be an invitation to experience the quality of the restoration up close and rediscover the history of the Este residence, precisely on the 30th anniversary of Ferrara’s UNESCO recognition as a “City of the Renaissance” “, stressed Culture Councilor Marco Gulinelli.

The series of in-depth lectures at the Museo Schifanoia’s Conference Room (via Scandiana 27) also continues, with free admission subject to availability: today, Thursday, Oct. 30, at 5 p.m., with a meeting titled“Ceramics in Ferrara: history, use and style between the 16th and 17th centuries” curated by Francesca Acqui, and on Thursday, Nov. 6, also at 5 p.m., with the lecture“A face for Marfisa: research and invention of a portrait” curated by Romeo Pio Cristofori.
