Library
The Art History, Archaeology and Numismatics Library of the Museums of Ancient Art has been housed since 2000 at Palazzo Bonacossi.
It is accessed by climbing the monumental staircase, whose walls offer, among other things, a scenic view of Ferrara. The spaces destined for the reading rooms, where recently recovered historical furnishings are also appropriately placed, have been set up with an enlarged view to encourage exhibition moments, focusing on graphic, bibliographic and collecting themes.
Since its eighteenth-century origins, the library has shared its history and centuries of history with the Museum of Ancient Art. Therefore, the arrangement of the current library holdings mirrors the characteristics of the civic collections of art and history. Together with the Photo Library, it constitutes a useful tool in research related to the history of Ferrara, its museums and heritage
The main sections are noted: repertories and general works, periodicals and journals, local history and art, artist monographs, history of miniature and graphic art, archaeology, numismatics, and older book collections related to the establishment of the Museums of Ancient Art.
The service is available by appointment and for consultation only Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Reservation requests should be sent to: u.scopa@comune.fe.it proposing some preferred dates and indicating the material you wish to consult.
